I've got a rare definition for ya. The word "tmesis" is defined as the separation of parts of a compound word by an intervening word or words. Commonly used as "a-whole-nother” or, as an expletive infixation like “un-friggin-believable.” So when you hear someone say "that's a whole 'nother story" and you correct them that it's not a word, you're right, but it is tmesis.
