Living & Loving Local

Our curated Food & Fun with a healthy twist in Dallas.

Restaurants

Loro

Options to order: Kale and asian pear salad + any of the meats (they are literally all good)

Secret hack: Pickles or deviled egg on the happy hour menu have great ingredient selections and are delicious.

Terry Blacks

Options to order: Half a pound of either brisket, turkey, or pork ribs, add green beans.

Secret hack: Much like any bbq joint, get more than you can eat (stop before you are full) and take the leftovers home for quick & easy protein.

Elm & Good

Options to order: Great for breakfast. Go with the steak and eggs, or any other basic egg dish.

Secret hack: Skip the sides and don’t be fooled by the potatoes. They are typically cooked in oils that will make you feel like you ate pancakes instead.

Origin Kitchen + Bar

Options to order: Everything on their menu is GF, and they have several Paleo options, making it easy to navigate with quality in mind.

Secret hack: The butternut squash bowl, has a nice blend of squash, kale, and quinoa. You can add any protein you’d like.

HG Supply Co.

Options to order: Build your own bowl. Easy to pick protein, carb and veggie with the options already listed out for you.

Secret hack: You can request certain oils or no oil at all to cook your food. Pretty unique.

Cafes

LDU

Best coffee in town. Mark and Adam are not only Australian coffee experts, they are the nicest guys around. Order a “long black” and tell them we sent you!

Merit Coffee

Robby, the owner, has shops now in Austin, San Antonio and Dallas and has been a friend of BPR for over a decade. Sounds silly, but their drip coffee is smooth and unbeatable.

Fiction Coffee

While they have a couple of locations, our favorite is the one on Hall street. Ask for an espresso and topo and check out the books they have on the shelf. Don’t be suprised if you see someone from BPR while you’re there!

Hike & Bike

Katy Jackson Trail

One of Dallas’ best kept secrets, you’ll take a little hike to get to miles of hiking and single-track as well as a great little picnic area in the white rock creek.

Oak Cliff Nature Preserve

The coolest part of the nature preserve is that its 125 acres right in the middle of the city. Great for biking and hiking, we love to head over to that neighborhood for a stink and drink after.

North Shore Trail

One of the best cross-country trails in the whole DFW. Chose wisely; head to the right and it’s easy cruising; head to the left and get ready for some climbing.

DORBA

Dallas has an entire network of trails that very few know about. While this is mainly for those that love to ride, almost every one of these is a great hiking trail as well!
